Making Twitter Safer

In an attempt to reduce the chances of account hijacking and making the process of using twitter safer for their users, twitter Inc have announced that, with immediate effect, twitter users can encrypt their communications with twitter by default by changing their settings.

To set this up on your account, simply follow the instructions below:

On the website, select the settings link:

Settings Tab on twitter.com

The Account tab should be showing (if not, select it), and at the bottom of the page you’ll find the HTTPS Only setting, select it to activate encrypted traffic between you and twitter:

HTTPS Setting

We strongly recommend using this setting to make your use of twitter safer, and reduce the chances of having your account hijacked.
