A Day In The Life…

For this post, we thought we could tell you a little bit more about us.

Here at HQ, the day is never dull.

First, and foremost, we keep on improving, re-writing and trying to make our software faster and better.

Over the past few years, we’ve expanded our software offerings, so that is quite a task in itself. As well as our award winning anti-spam desktop product, we also have server solutions, security software (antivirus and antispyware), as well as utility software that can help speed up your PC. We’ll be bringing new software online this year as well (more in a future post).

A big chunk of our software is still developed and delivered by our great team in Copenhagen, Denmark, where our head office is based. Most of our founders are based here, along with some of our developers and much of our sales, support and affiliate support functions, as well as program management, marketing, graphics and reseller management. We also have development teams based in the Ukraine and in the USA; as well as on-the-ground sales and support teams in the USA and Asia-Pacific.

Is there such a thing as a typical day? Probably not, but we face the same problems, achievements and frustrations any software company does.

One of our prime responsibilities is keeping everything running in tip-top condition. Our approach to anti-spam, for instance, is community driven, meaning our products require a fast and well looked after back-end system.

On top of this, our program teams are responsible for making sure our products are released according to their roadmaps, and bugs are hunted and sorted out. We’d all love to pretend we don’t ever have problems, but we do from time-to-time, and, like most software companies, we are committed to providing top-class software that meets customer needs.

On any typical day, we are bug hunting, preparing new versions and products, as well discussing marketing, SEO, and what new features we might want to offer. Often we are deciding as much what to leave out in preference to what to add. When you think about it, usability is not just about adding features, but how to keep things simple, such that products just work.

Each day has its challenges, and, no different to many companies, we are challenged by all manner of things. Our support folks especially so, who help customers, often when the issue is not even of our making, but a happy customer is a happy customer, so we do our best regardless. We are still very happy about the fact we offer free telephone support to our customers, something we still wonder why are competitors are loathe to do.

At the end of the day, everything we do is about customers. From the progams we write to meet their needs, to helping them use them and everything in between.
